John and Lynn Cunningham.

We are currently serving as missionaries in the Dominican Republic.

I (Lynn) grew up seeing Dr. and Mrs. Meyer as heroes in the faith - a man and woman that I could look to for a godly example in serving the Lord in the church and in the business world.  I attended Orlando Christian School for 2 years and can remember so many good things about my time there - the friends, the teachers, the school plays, and working in the library.  I remember Mrs. Meyer as my Home Economics teacher.  She was a great teacher - but, I had to sew a dress that turned out rather lopsided.  She actually wanted us to wear our finished products to school!!!

When I got married - my husband, John, was introduced to Dr. Meyer by my dad, Ben Langley at a WBF Tri-State Meeting.  John remembers Dr. Meyer as a gracious man that loved missions, served His Lord without regard to how anyone else was doing it - but, how he believed the Lord would have him lead the church where he pastored.

When we surrendered to full-time ministry, and after accepting the call to our first church - Dr. Meyer showed his support by financially supporting the work and by his encouraging words of wisdom along the way.

When we surrendered to go to the Dominican Republic later in life (we were in our mid 50s) - Dr. and Mrs. Meyer could not have been happier or more proud of our decision.  Again, they showed their support in encouraging words, prayers that we knew were being lifted on our behalf, as well as financial support for us personally and then whenever we needed anything for the ministry here.  John always felt that if there was a need on the field - whether it be for a tractor part or materials for discipleship - Dr. Meyer was someone he could call and depend on for the help.

Las Palmas Christian School is a bilingual school that Lynn has the opportunity to serve in each day.  The school has been blessed more than once by the generosity of the Meyers and the Lloyd Meyer Foundation.  When Orlando Christian School was closed down - Mrs. Meyer sent many items from the school to us here in the Dominican Republic!  Recently, we were blessed with a donation that helped us with several small projects around the school.

We are thankful for the influence that the Meyers have had on our lives.  We have watched them and learned several things....

1.  God provides and our part is to ask Him and wait for Him to show up

2.  Serving is a life-time opportunity that we have - no matter our age - we can still have opportunities to serve

3.  When God blesses - you have the chance to bless someone else - do it!

Thank you for the memories, and thank you for the lessons!

World Baptist Fellowship Mission Director

Dr. Lloyd Meyer’s passionate heart for the Lord’s work was evidenced by his constant desire to invest in missions.  Countless missionary families (including ours) have been blessed by the

generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Meyer.  The Meyer legacy lives on through continual giving that

originated with a burden to see souls saved and churches planted for the glory of God.

Dr. Meyer has been a lifelong friend.  He pastored the Orlando Baptist Temple and supported my wife and me as missionaries to Brazil.  I am semi-retired but still do class via the internet in Brazil and go down in June for a series of meetings.  He and his wife have been close friends for years.

WBF Mission Office and Retired Missionary to Ecuador

Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Meyer have faithfully supported Dave and me for many years, as a pastor of a supporting church and also through the Meyer Mission Fund.  We arrived on the field of Ecuador through the World Baptist Fellowship Mission Agency in 1977, after being approved in 1975.  Dr Meyer led his church to support us from the beginning of our ministry and continued to support us through the Meyer Mission Fund.  He loved missionaries and he had a heart for missions.  We are thankful for Dr Meyer’s faithful support over these 45 years.”

Throughout our years of ministry, my husband and I heard of the ministry of Dr. Lloyd

Meyer. He had a wonderful church and was a loving and caring pastor. He helped many

young pastors as they began new churches. He was helpful by encouraging them and occasionally monetarily. I didn’t get to be with Dr. and Mrs. Meyer personally, only at

Fellowship meetings. But I knew they would always be at any fellowship happenings. We

did get to share lunch one time with them and I sat there in awe as they described some

of the works they were involved in. They were very humble but amazing. He had a

Christian School that thrived, I was told. I really had no dealings with the school until

Dr. Meyer retired and sold the school. Dr. and Mrs. Meyer had come to live in the

Metroplex and joined Pleasantview Baptist Church. They came to the Mission Office to

let us know that he wanted us to handle the funds from the sale of the school for them.

We were to send the funds to different causes – the College, the Mission Office, the

College Sports program and several missionaries. We were to expect a check monthly

from the people who were buying the Christian School. He told me, as administrative

assistant of the Mission Office, to foreclose on them if they were ten days late. My, how

happy I was that never happened. Probably there are countless pastors, schools and

missionaries that Dr. and Mrs. Meyer helped through the years and are still helping. I

sincerely admired Dr. Meyer. He knew what he wanted and how he wanted things to be

taken care of. His life was God’s work.
