About the Lloyd E. Meyer Foundation
The Lloyd E. Meyer Foundation (“Foundation”) was founded in 2020. After the death of Dr. Lloyd Meyer in 2019, his three children set up the Foundation to continue Dr. Meyer’s legacy of supporting missionaries and numerous Christian organizations and schools throughout the world and locally.
The purpose of the Foundation is to help fulfill Dr. Meyer’s spirit of giving to missions and to honor our Lord's great commission by witnessing, preaching and teaching to the world the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is also the purpose of the Foundation to serve as a channel through the World Baptist Mission Agency to support those missionaries on the field who are in need of financial support as well as various overseas Christian orphanages in need of financial support. In addition, the Foundation supports various local Christian charities. 100% of every donation the Foundation receives goes directly to providing financial support to such missionaries and Christian organizations.
Dr. Meyer attended Greeley Baptist Temple in Greeley, CO., where he was called to preach. After serving in the Armed forces, he attended and graduated from the Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas (now known as Arlington Baptist College) with a Master in Theology degree and later received an Honorary Doctor’s degree.
Dr. Meyer met his wife, Joanne Ackerman Meyer, while attending the Bible Baptist Seminary. They were married almost 70 years. They raised three children: Beverly Loy English, Marilyn Joy Broyles, and Steven David Meyer.
After graduating Bible Baptist Seminary, Dr. Meyer went to Richmond, Indiana and founded the Richmond Baptist Temple. Thereafter and during his pastoring tenure, he pastored at six different churches. Dr. Meyer assisted in starting thirty-three churches and was the founder of two Christian schools. Dr. Meyer retired from pastoring at the age of sixty-five, but continued to operate the Orlando Christian School in Clermont, Florida for many years after retiring from preaching.
He was the President of the World Baptist Fellowship for two terms, served on the Mission Board of the Fellowship, and was the editor of the Fundamentalist (known as the voice of the World Baptist Fellowship). Dr. Meyer was on the Board of Directors for Arlington Baptist College for many years, President of the Tri-State Fellowship (the Florida, Georgia, and Alabama regions), and President of the Tri-State Pilgrims.
Dr. Meyer moved to Arlington, Texas in 2007 and became a member of Pleasantview Baptist Church. He became involved in Arlington Baptist College by helping to refurbish the dormitories, planting shrubs, and flowers around the College and the World Baptist Mission office. He could be seen on many days patching blacktop, cleaning the dorms, or just working around the school until his health started declining in 2017.
Dr. Lloyd E. Meyer
Dr. Lloyd E. Meyer began his preaching the gospel upon graduating from the Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, TX in l951. Dr. Meyer retired from preaching at the age of 65. During Dr. Meyer’s pastoring tenure, he had a heart and passion for mission endeavors albeit supporting missionaries across the globe or contributing to multiple local charities. One of his famous mottos was “you can never out give the Lord.” Dr. Meyer was truly an example of that motto. Dr. Meyer was very private in his giving. One will never know the extent of the contributions he made during his lifetime here on earth. Dr. Meyer was always most giving to groups and individuals in need until his death in July 2019 at the age of 92.
